Seemingly a VERY underrated park! It was a pleasant surprise - so fun! Great trails and a nice visitor center. Plenty of wild life, too. This is a park to take the little ones to - they will enjoy the hiking & seeing the Bison, Big Horns & Antelope. Also, the Prairie Dogs - lots of them! We had been past this park 4 times on I-90 over the years - what a surprise.
Awesome landscape. Good signage - we even saw a small rattlesnake cross the path right after the "Danger watch for snakes" sign! It was fun to walk the paths for even more incredible views. The little shop has a wide variety of beautiful souvenirs. There is even a little restaurant in the building! A lovely small National Park!
It's difficult to put into words just how incredible this place is. Being from Indiana, it's unlike anything I've ever seen and likely ever will see. Lots of history, plenty of overlooks and scenic byways, places to camp, trails, you name it. All the staff I encountered there were more than helpful and pleasant. If you're going through South Dakota, this place is a must. Heck, it's even worth being a vacation destination.
The Badlands National Park is one of the main attractions in South Dakota. Via I90, visitors coming from or going to Mouth Rushmore usually stop by to be amazed of its rugged terrains. Born out of volcanoes 30 millions years ago, the Badlands is a natural wonder that can be appreciated most by driving along a zigzag loop that takes you to its base.
Very neat Scenic byway. Lots of animals to see. Great places to stop and soak in the views. Also it would be a really neat place to go hiking. Would recommend it to anyone at any age. The roads are suitable for most any vehicle.
