I wasn't sure about driving miles out of the way to see Carhenge but I have absolutely no regrets. It is an inspiring monument to artistic expression that includes not only the Stonehenge replica but also many ingenious, car part based, works of kinetic art. It is worth the drive. As an added bonus, it you are headed east, as I was, skip the return drive to I-80 and take a drive on state route 2 through the Nebraska sand hill country, which is as spectacular in scale and beauty as any natural wonder.
Such a great experience with meaning and history. Went to Stonehenge 5 years ago and finally got to see Carhenge. The car sculpture replicates Stonehenge as closely as possible. There is other artwork and a white car to autograph. Stop by the little shop and you can chat with the worker about the history. There is merchandise to purchase too. Seeing Carhenge is a must and you'll be able to view the scenic sandhills of Western Nebraska! Be sure to stop at the fun stores along the way and take in the beauty of the ranch land.
Carhenge .... Nebraska 's version of Stonehenge... nice place. Interesting place. It has also it's own souvenir shop. Will take kids here again when they arrive on Sunday. Am appreciating man's creativity... it's not boring to see the place...
My husband and I drove cross country from New York and Carhenge in Nebraska was one of the roadside attractions we wanted to see. Well worth it and the lady at the store was super friendly! Makes you fall in love with Nebraska even more!
Super cool!! Worth the drive to the middle of nowhere. There is a car on the hill that you can write on! Go sign your name and take a photo! I recommend taking a sharpie.
